During one of WoW‘s content droughts, I checked out Guild Wars 2, and I’ve been playing it casually ever since. ![]() Entrenched in World of Warcraft, I skipped the game at launch, but a friend heard me pining for Tinker Gnomes/Goblins and told me about the GW2 Engineer class. I did like the story in PoF myself though.I remember the refrain “GW2FL” filling the comments section of nearly every article in the days leading up to the release of Guild Wars 2. They may be doing season 4 and the Icebrood Saga as well, and if they do, there will be a gap in the story there because you haven’t played through PoF, but there have been a lot of complaints about the story since PoF so it’s not necessarily a convincing argument to get PoF for the story unless you want the continuity. They are at least doing season 2 and 3, which will provide you with the story before and after HoT. You could easily go through this content while getting back into the game without getting PoF. This will provide you with a ton of content for free, although it is story and achievement based. Basically, each week will feature an episode, becoming free for you if you log in. One final point, they are doing a weekly focus on the living story coming up soon. If you don’t have HoT, then buy PoF because they’re bundled and it’s the best deal you will ever get. If you have HoT, then you already have access to some awesome elite specs and gliding. It will be a while before they bundle PoF with End of Dragons, so unless you plan to go without PoF elite specs or mounts then there’s no avoiding it. At only $30, you are getting a good deal on how much content you will receive and you will gain access to things like mounts, which are impossible to live without once you have. Path of Fire gives more elite specs, many of which are powerful and fun, which will give you new ways to enjoy the game. ![]()
